With the Glorious Twelfth only a month away, moors using medicated grit should be ensuring that it is NOT available for uptake by grouse a month beforehand as the minimum withdrawal time is 28 days before shooting commences. This is a legal requirement. Good practice (using grit boxes or other means of withdrawing it from use) is essential to ensure that medicated grit remains a tool for controlling strongyle worm in grouse. Medicated grit uses an anthelmintic, therefore the withdrawal period is required to ensure that the drug does not reach the human food chain.
So flip your lid NOW. If you abuse it, we may lose it!
