GWCT launches new website

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust has launched a new  interactive website this month, which is packed with useful advice and hints on wildlife conservation, sustainable farming, game management issues, plus a not-to-be missed  ‘bird of the month’ series.

The site, www.gwct.org.uk, has been re-designed to create an easier to use website whilst maintaining all the original fascinating aspects of interest.  The GWCT is the leading UK conservation charity conducting scientific research and developing sympathetic ways of managing the countryside for the benefit of Britain's game and wildlife.

The new website, sponsored by Oval Insurance Broking Ltd, forms an integral part of the GWCT, aiming to increase customer accessibility whilst providing the latest information about the GWCT’s research, policy, advisory and educational work.  The website is much more interactive and user-friendly and allows users and members to search for local and national events, update contact details, book onto courses and donate to current nationwide wildlife appeals.

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust’s Chief Executive Teresa Dent says: “The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust’s scientific research is the very best and we wanted to ensure that members, supporters and policy makers can easily keep up-to-date with our latest research developments as well as being able to use the on-line booking facility for courses and events.”

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust site features include news and country-wide events, Species of the Month, full product pages, FAQs and an on-line shopping experience. There is also an option to use the online trade directory to find a wide range of local businesses that support the Trust’s work. The site also offers an advisory service on land and game management and there is an easy to use facility to book and attend many of the Trust’s popular courses on conservation, game management and best practice.

Notes to editors

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust is an independent wildlife conservation charity which carries out scientific research into Britain’s game and wildlife. We advise farmers and landowners on improving wildlife habitats and we lobby for agricultural and conservation policies based on science. We employ 14 post-doctoral scientists and 50 other research staff with expertise in areas such as birds, insects, mammals, farming and statistics.  We undertake our own research as well as projects funded by contract and grant-aid from Government and private bodies.   The Trust is also responsible for a number of Government Biodiversity Action Plan species and is lead partner for grey partridge and joint lead partner for brown hare and black grouse.
