A moving experience for wildlife research charity

Scotland’s leading game & wildlife research charity, the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust has relocated its headquarters to new premises at Perth Airport, Scone.

The Trust established its Scottish HQ in the rural location of Newtyle, Perthshire more than 37 years ago under the leadership of Ian McCall, the GWCT’s recently retired Director of Scotland.  During this time the Trust has undertaken pioneering research that demonstrates the key role that game conservation has and continues to play in creating and maintaining Scotland’s world-renowned wildlife and landscapes.

Dr Adam Smith, the Trust’s new Director of Scotland sees it as a very positive step for the organisation.  He said, “Moving our offices to Perth means that we will be close to many of the other important organisations that are essential to the well-being of rural Scotland such as the Scottish Gamekeepers Association, Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Government, and the Forestry Commission Scotland. The new office is also close to Scone Palace, which is the location of our very popular annual Scottish Game Fair.”

The new premises will house the Trust’s Scottish Policy Officer, Press Office, and Advisory services.  Information on the Trust’s research, regional groups and fundraising activities can also be obtained through the new Scottish office.

For further information or to contact the Trust at its new premises, please contact: the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust Scottish HQ, The Control Tower, Perth Airport, Scone, Perthshire PH2 6PL.  Telephone: 01738 551511.  Email addresses will remain the same.  The Trust’s Scottish Game Fair offices have also moved to the same address and their contact number is: 01738 554826 or the fax number is: 01738 550366.

Notes to editors

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust is an independent wildlife conservation charity which carries out scientific research into Britain’s game and wildlife. We advise farmers and landowners on improving wildlife habitats and we lobby for agricultural and conservation policies based on science. We employ 14 post-doctoral scientists and 50 other research staff with expertise in areas such as birds, insects, mammals, farming and statistics.  We undertake our own research as well as projects funded by contract and grant-aid from Government and private bodies.   The Trust is also responsible for a number of Government Biodiversity Action Plan species and is lead partner for grey partridge and joint lead partner for brown hare and black grouse.
