New insurance scheme ups the game for research

Field sports enthusiasts are being urged to sign up to a new shoot insurance package, which offers one of the most comprehensive insurance deals on the market.  An added benefit to members of the scheme is the knowledge that 50 per cent of profits will be donated to the vital game research being undertaken by the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Costing from just £49 the insurance package has been launched by GunsOnPegs and is underwritten by Lloyds of London.  The scheme provides a unique range of benefits including £10million public & products liability cover, £10 million employer’s liability cover and £55,000 personal accident cover.

The new package will insure members for a wide range of field sports activities, including game shooting, rough shooting, wildlfowling, stalking, hunting, fishing and ferreting.

James Horne, Managing Director of GunsOnPegs is a keen supporter of the Game & Wildlife Trust and is a signed up life member.  He said, “I am a passionate supporter of the Trust’s research and hugely enthusiastic about their latest study, which aims to re-introduce the wild element into released shoots.  This is an incredibly valuable study and the sort of science that we should all be supporting.  I am therefore keen to back the Trust in a tangible way by donating profits from our latest insurance scheme. It is a fantastic opportunity to put real money back into the sport that we all love and I would urge all those that shoot to support our new initiative.”

Mark Hudson, Chairman of Trustees with the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, said, “We are extremely grateful to GunsOnPegs for launching this partnership, which will help fund research on the long term sustainability of game management.  I would therefore highly recommend this package to both members and non-members of the GWCT, particularly as it is a very positive way to support our game research while buying an insurance product that you would need to purchase each year.”

In addition to the 50% of net income being donated to the Trust, the GunsOnPegs field sports package includes many other benefits, such as a regular update on the status of GWCT research projects, early information on all GunsOnPegs special offers, access to GWCT and GunsOnPegs private hospitality areas at Game Fair plus many more features besides.

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust is an independent wildlife conservation charity which carries out scientific research into Britain’s game and wildlife. We advise farmers and landowners on improving wildlife habitats and we lobby for agricultural and conservation policies based on science. We employ 14 post-doctoral scientists and 50 other research staff with expertise in areas such as birds, insects, mammals, farming and statistics.  We undertake our own research as well as projects funded by contract and grant-aid from Government and private bodies.   The Trust is also responsible for a number of Government Biodiversity Action Plan species and is lead partner for grey partridge and joint lead partner for brown hare and black grouse.
