It was a winning formula at Cereals with more than 200 people entering the popular Campaign Trail competition, organised by the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust in an effort to further raise the profile of the Campaign for the Farmed Environment.
To enter the competition, visitors to the show were given a ‘trail card’ and encouraged to visit all exhibiting CFE partners in order to collect stamps on the trail cards from partner stands.
Peter Thompson, the Trust’s farmland biodiversity advisor and Hampshire co-ordinator for CFE said, “This was a great way of encouraging people to visit all the various CFE partner organisations and importantly to learn more about the Campaign.”
All completed competition trail cards were entered into a prize draw at the end of the show on the last day and the three winners were drawn by Jim Egan, from FWAG and Chair of the CFE Delivery Group and Peter Thompson.
The much desired first prize of a fabulous champagne lunch for two at top London restaurant Le Gavroche (kindly donated by Michel Roux Jnr) was won by Stephen Johnson, from Syngenta. Second prize of an industrial sized bottle of Whiskey was won by Gareth Morgan from the RSPB and third prize case of wine was won by Gary Darnell.

Notes to editors
1. The Campaign is an industry-led, rather than regulatory approach to re-capturing the environmental benefits that were provided by set-aside. It unites key industry stakeholders - NFU, CLA, LEAF, FWAG, AIC, AICC, CAAV and GWCT.
2. The industry are working in partnership with Defra and its agencies, Natural England and the Environment Agency, and the RSPB in order to deliver advice to farmers on how they might best retain and increase the environmental benefits provided by their farmland in a targeted and agronomically practical way.
