This summer the CLA Game Fair returns to the magnificent surroundings of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire for a three-day country sports extravaganza, from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 July. The show attracts over 140,000 visitors and showcases the very best in countryside pursuits. Our stand, P1093, complete with our exclusive members’ area, can be found at the end of Gunmakers Row adjacent to the main arena, where our advisors and research scientists will be on hand to answer your questions and provide professional advice.
This year you have the opportunity to be involved with sponsoring a woodcock. We will be satellite tagging a number of birds across the UK and monitoring their movements as they travel across Europe and Russia so we can learn more about this mysterious bird. We want to be able to understand where they go and the reasons behind their long journey paths to breeding sites. For just £3 a month you will receive a monthly email update on the bird’s progress and be able to track them on a map. It is an amazing opportunity.
In addition to updates on our established pheasant and lapwing projects, our fisheries scientists will be providing visitors with the opportunity to view some of the amazing equipment that they use as part of their investigation into the decline of Atlantic salmon on the River Frome in Dorset. The rotary screw trap is used to catch a sample of migrating smolts enabling an estimate to be made of numbers leaving the river each year.
By popular demand Adrian Caddy of ACA Archery is returning this year to offer visitors the chance to try their hand at field archery. We are also delighted to be exhibiting the work of artist Bryan Hanlon. Bryan has produced four life-size fine art bronze sculptures in support of our four current appeals; woodcock, pheasant, lapwing and salmon. Each sculpture will have a limited edition of 25 pieces with a percentage of all show sales and orders being donated directly to our important research.
With so much to see, our exclusive members’ area is a great place for friends and family to meet up and enjoy an oasis of calm. This year Oxford-based ‘Touch of Taste’ will be providing our members and their guests with refreshments using fine ingredients and local produce. Why not beat the traffic this year and enjoy a full English breakfast on our stand from 6:30am? Join us for a delicious two-course lunch or simply watch the world go by with a pot of afternoon tea.
Whether you are new to the CLA Game Fair or a regular visitor, you are sure to enjoy a fantastic weekend at this world class event. Be sure to visit our stand - we look forward to welcoming you.
As always we are indebted to the generosity of our dedicated supporters and corporate partners. This year we would like to warmly thank Fisher German, Blenheim Palace, Musto, William Powell and Mitsubishi.
