GWCT Events & Courses in November

As we edge nearer to Christmas November is looking like a packed month with a great range of GWCT events and courses taking place throughout the country.

GlamisTayside Dinner & Auction – Thursday 5th November

The Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne and our Tayside Committee are hosting the ‘Bids and Birdies’ Charity Auction and Dinner at the spectacular Glamis Castle on Guy Fawkes night. The evening begins with drinks in the Crypt at 7pm and the dress code is smart casual. More details >

Rat Control Course in Leicestershire – Friday 6th November

We have run this popular course in several locations and it is proving invaluable for gamekeepers who need to go on controlling rats using professional rodenticides after a Health and Safety Executive deadline of 1 July 2016. We’ll be hosting the course at our Allerton Project farm in Loddington, Leicestershire on 6th November. More details >

Colin Mc GurranGame Cookery Demonstration by Colin McGurran – Tuesday 10th November

We’re delighted to be hosting this demonstration by Colin McGurran of Great British Menu fame at the School of Artisan Food, Welbeck Estate, Nottinghamshire. There’ll be champagne and canapes on arrival followed by demonstrations and tasting menus. More details >

Wiltshire Dinner & Auction with Sir Max Hastings – Saturday 14th November

Taking place at Marlborough Town Hall, Sir Max will be speaking after a fantastic dinner and auction featuring some great lots. More details >

Tenth North of England Grouse Seminar - Tuesday 17th November

We’re holding a seminar at Ripley Castle in Harrogate to present this year’s grouse data. Professor Mike Taylor will be discussing ‘bulgy eye’ in red grouse and we’ll be covering a range of other subjects including the expansion of black grouse range by translocation, grouse moor restoration in Wales and the impacts and benefits of heather burning. More details >

London “Macnab” Ball – Wednesday 18th November

The Trust’s 36th annual ball will be held at the luxurious Dorchester Hotel on Wednesday 18 November. It will be a fantastic evening and will include a champagne reception, sumptuous dinner, live auction featuring some truly unique lots, exciting entertainment, and dancing, all washed down with delicious Sipsmith cocktails! More details >

An Evening with Peter Wheeler - Leicestershire & Rutland Dinner - Wednesday 18th November

Join us at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel in Rutland for a champagne reception and two-course dinner followed by a speech and Q&A session with Peter Wheeler, former England international rugby player and chief executive of Leicester Tigers. More details >

Floyd ScholzThe Wonder of Raptors - Talk by Floyd Scholz - Wednesday 18th November

Floyd Scholz is one of America’s most renowned bird carvers and he’ll be giving an entertaining, illustrated talk about his experiences in creating his renowned sculptures of these majestic birds of prey. This is a rare UK visit for Floyd so don’t miss out on this chance to see him at Welwyn Community Centre. More details >

North Wales Five Ways with Pheasant by Dai Chef – Thursday 19th November

Join us at Furnace Farm, Bodnant where Dai Chef will be delivering a cookery demonstration and then preparing a fantastic three-course dinner. There will also be an auction afterwards with the chance to win some superb lots. More details >
