Building a Diverse and Inclusive Future for Conservation: GWCT's Commitment to People and Nature

The Count Is Coming

The GWCT are proud to have just achieved IIP (investors in people) re-accreditation in May 2023 (originally awarded to Allerton in 2005; GWCT, 2017) and are setting a strategic goal to achieve continuous improvement in IIP working towards our Centenary year in 2030. We know from experience that we get the best results for nature when we listen to the knowledge and experience of farmers, game managers, and scientists alike. In the same way, we are only able to deliver our best work when we create space for people from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. The Trust welcomes everyone with an interest in the conservation of game and wildlife in the countryside, and that means ensuring that we provide a safe and supportive environment for all our staff and students. We are actively employing young and diverse staff in our research programs and exploring the expansion of our reach into national youth organisations and apprentices to attract the stars of the future. The 2030 Centenary gives us a clear target to achieve continued development of DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) with historical impact and influence. We are proud to celebrate the 1st anniversary of our LGBTQ+ committee this Pride Month 2023.
