We are pleased to confirm that the prize for our 2017 Grand Grouse Draw will be a day’s driven grouse shooting on the Mar Estate, Upper Deeside, with one night’s accommodation in support of the shooting for up to nine couples at Lower Dess Lodge, Aberdeenshire, courtesy of Mr Jeremy Clayton. Further details will be published here as they become available.
The winner of the 2016 Grand Grouse Draw was Sophie Butler, Upper Hamnish Farm, near Leominster, Herefordshire.
With a record number of more than 32,000 tickets sold last year and over £64,000 raised for the Trust through the draw, Sophie is, indeed, a lucky winner. Her prize is a day’s driven grouse shooting for eight guns on the Invermark Estate, Angus. It has been generously donated by the Earl of Dalhousie with accommodation provided by the Glenesk Hotel, Edzell, Angus.
Sophie, who herself fundraises for Walking with the Wounded, was overwhelmed at having won something, for the first time, ever!
Hugo Straker, GWCT Senior Scottish Advisor, and organiser of the draw, said:
“This was a record-breaking result for the 2016 draw with more tickets sold than ever before. We are grateful to all who bought tickets and to the Earl of Dalhousie for providing such a magnificent prize. Proceeds of the draw will support the work of the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, using science to promote game and wildlife management as an essential part of nature conservation.”
