Glorious grouse, perfect partridges and pulsating pheasants

The Road to successful shoot development on a Lammermuir hill farm

Red grouseHorseupcleugh, Longformacus, Berwickshire
Friday 18 June

By kind permission of Robbie Douglas Miller

This day will uniquely demonstrate how focused gamekeepering, habitat creation and management, careful farming and passionate ownership have restored the local grouse population to currently produce 3 full days driven shooting as well as two half days shot in tandem with a morning of partridges.

Later in the season, stunning mixed pheasant and redlegged partridge shooting provide dividends for diligent hill fringe management.  Practical demonstrations and discussions will cover the shoot’s blueprint for red and black grouse recovery, game cropping, new woodlands, feeding and release strategies for pheasants and partridges and up to date methods of predation control.
