GWCT shoot sweepstake adds the taste of success

The GWCT's free shoot sweepstakes pack is illustrated with striking art by Owen Williams. The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) is urging shoots across the country to get involved in their 2014/15 shoot sweepstake scheme to help raise funds for their vital game and wildlife research.

Launched in 2002, the GWCT sweepstake has proved to be an enormous success. Running a sweepstake is a simple but effective way of fundraising for the GWCT during the shooting season. The GWCT sweepstake package contains everything necessary to help run a successful shoot day such as peg markers, shoot cards and cartridge collection bags. The sweepstake package features striking and celebrated designs created by renowned wildlife artist Owen Williams, including his wonderful illustrations of woodcock, pheasant, duck and wild grey partridge. The package is available completely free from the GWCT.

GWCT regional organiser Lottie Meeson said, "When we launched the sweepstakes scheme twelve years ago we had no idea how popular it would turn out to be. We already have 500 shoots around the country participating and the number is increasing all the time."

As an extra incentive there is a bottle of sloe gin for every £100 raised and an individual certificate for each shoot showing the amount raised during the season. From this season, the Trust sweepstakes are being conducted in partnership with Williams Chase Sloe and Mulberry Gin. This bespoke gin blend has been marinated by Chase Distillery from Herefordshire hedgerow sloe berries, augmented by a selection of botanicals and delicious mulberries. The latter are now rarely used in spirits due to their slowgrowing nature and low yield, but have a taste described as "fireworks in your mouth". The resulting gin has a unique, appropriate and distinctively British flavour!

The Trust would like to express its gratitude to Chase and to all participating members and their shoots for their generosity and their support. Lottie Meeson added, "This has proved again and again to be a fantastic scheme for participating shoots, and thanks to our partnership with Chase the package we offer is now better than ever."
