Soldiers and wildlife to benefit from charity clay shoot

The charity shoot on the Warter Estate this June will benefit both the Army Benevolent Fund and the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust © Josh Harrison / www.ipphotography.co.ukThis June, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is teaming up with the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) to hold a two-day charity clay pigeon shoot on the Warter Estate, near Pocklington, East Yorkshire. ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is the Army’s national charity and the GWCT is the UK’s leading wildlife research charity.

On Friday 5 and Monday 8 June, up to 30 teams of four guns and four loaders will compete for a range of spectacular prizes. The shoot will take place over six different stands, offering a variety of challenges, interest and novelty. After the shooting there will be a champagne reception followed by a three-course lunch with wine and drinks, during which a raffle and auction will be held with spectacular and exclusive prizes. The proceeds will be shared equally between the two charities.

The Friday will be GWCT-themed while the Monday will have a distinct ABF feel. The quality and range of shooting, raffle and ‘money-cannot-buy’ auction prizes will be similar on both days. Prizes include an opportunity to lunch alongside one of the Red Arrows on Friday 5 June, when the world-renowned RAF aerobatics display team will be in attendance.

The cost of entry is £1,800 per team. Additional friends and guests would be most welcome at a charge of £60 each. The entry fee includes butties on arrival, tea or coffee, finger food and drinks during the day and, of course, the champagne reception and lunch. Sophie Dingwall of the GWCT says “it’s a real privilege for the Trust to be invited to join forces with the ABF and build upon this already very successful and established event”.
