Pollinators

BEESPOKE
BEESPOKE

There has been much attention recently on the plight of pollinators, but the BEESPOKE project aims to reverse the decline.

Bumblebee use of farmland habitats

Bumblebees play an important economic and ecological role by pollinating crops and wildflowers. The UK has 25 native bumblebee species, but many of these have declined in recent years.

The birds and the bees

Many pollinating insects have declined in abundance in recent decades. We are investigated the role of pollinating insects in determining fruit set in five common hedgerow shrubs.

Sussex Study

Every year from we sample and identify the invertebrates in approximately 100 cereal fields. The is information used to help us determine how changes in farming affect invertebrate abundance.
