Important visitors to the Project

HRH visit

HRH The Princess Royal paid a flying visit to the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust’s Allerton project recently to investigate some of the innovative wildlife-friendly techniques that are being developed on the farm for the benefit of the environment and wildlife.  The event also commemorated the Allerton Project’s recent success at achieving the Investors in People Award.

Dr Alastair Leake, Project Manager of the Trust’s Allerton Project, said, “We were delighted to welcome Princess Anne and to show her many of our innovative research projects. Despite it being a bitterly cold day, the Princess was genuinely interested in our wildlife research and spent considerable amounts of time discussing the finer aspects of many of our projects with individual research staff.   We are also pleased to celebrate the success of achieving Investors in People status as it demonstrates that we are not just good for birds but people too.”

Other visitors to the Project include:

  • HRH Prince Charles who launched Pathfinders, a Defra funded vocational training scheme
  • Duke of Edinburgh
  • Elliot Morley MP
  • Paddy Tipping MP
  • Helen Phillips, Chief Executive of Natural England
  • Peter Kendall, President of National Farmers Union in England and Wales
  • James Townshend, Chief Executive of Velcourt
