The Rutherford Shoot lies in between St Boswells and Kelso in the Scottish Borders and is run across two farms – Rutherford (part of the rural stewardship scheme) and Burnside – which provide the 1,900 acres used. The shoot provides a couple of family days per year as well as anywhere between 6-12 corporate days each year.
This guided tour with GWCT Senior Advisor Hugo Straker, owner Johnny Rutherford and shoot manager Stuart Shanks will explore the secrets of the estate's drives and explain how Rutherford has developed a successful and challenging pheasant and partridge shoot over the years by way of effective game crop management, with a focus on game crop selection, placement and management. The tour will also incorporate best practice gamebird rearing and predator management.
Following the tour, guests are invited to enjoy drinks and a delicious barbecue.
The tour will start at 6pm followed by the BBQ at 7.30pm.
