A FUN-FILLED evening was enjoyed by 260 guests at the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust’s (GWCT) 38th Macnab Ball on November 22.
Emma Manners, who is The Duchess of Rutland and London Ball chairman, spoke to the guests, including Pippa Middleton and actress Elizabeth Hurley, about the critical work the Trust carries out in making the countryside rich in game and wildlife.
To demonstrate this, the Duchess showed the first-ever viewing of GWCT’s brand new fundraising film, which was well received.
Guests also enjoyed a fantastic dinner, mind-boggling tricks from magician Kieron The Mighty, entertainment and an auction held by Charlie Thomas of Bonhams.
Auction lots included a day’s shooting at Gunnerside, a South African Safari, a day’s shooting at Overbury and fishing with Welsh rugby legend Sir Gareth Edwards.
Guests enjoyed the rest of the evening’s entertainment, battling it out at the laser shooting, taking photos in the photo booth and, of course, taking to the dance floor. Martin Miller’s Gin & Merchant Heart served up some mouth-watering cocktails which proved to be a great success.
The GWCT extends its thanks to everyone who supported the event and in particular the London Ball Committee and Hunter Boots.
In total, £120,000 was raised.

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust – providing research-led conservation for a thriving countryside. The GWCT is an independent wildlife conservation charity which has carried out scientific research into Britain’s game and wildlife since the 1930s. We advise farmers and landowners on improving wildlife habitats.
