GWCT’s popular Gun Draw closes soon

GWCT-Jack London -2017-082

HUNDREDS of Guns are hoping to win a prize of a lifetime.

The winner of the 2018 Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust Gun Draw will receive a day’s driven grouse shooting, a new pair of 12-bore shotguns, three-hour fitting session and 500 game cartridges – all worth a jaw-dropping £25,000.

Mark Deacon, from Bedfordshire, was last year’s winner and he says the news came as a great surprise.

“It was the first time I had entered such a competition with a prize anything like this. I have never shot grouse before and, as it is something I had promised I would do, I thought it may be worth a punt,” he said.

“The guns are a massive bonus. I am really humbled by my fellow ‘guns’ and shooting acquaintances that have said how pleased they are for me and encouraged by a local Bedfordshire boy to have won.”

Mark, who runs a quad biking and buggy business, has been for a three-hour fitting session with Tom Payne at the Oxfordshire Shooting School and will embark on the day’s driven grouse shooting before the season ends.

By taking part in the draw, you will also be supporting GWCT’s scientific research programmes for game and wildlife conservation.

The Trust aims to ensure a thriving countryside, rich in game and other wildlife and believe its research can go a long way to achieving this.

You will be helping us to tell a more balanced story about game management by funding new research to measure and publish the positive influence it has on our countryside.

Director of communications Andrew Gilruth says this is the ultimate prize for Guns to win.

“As a Trust, we’ve been running this raffle for many years and there are fewer prizes better than this one. I would urge anyone who hasn’t bought a £50 ticket to buy one now.”

“Best of luck to everyone who takes part.”

GWCT would like to thank William Powell for its generosity in donating the prizes for the third consecutive year.

Tickets are priced at £50 and the draw will take place at GWCT headquarters in Fordingbridge on Friday, December 21st by chief executive Teresa Dent CBE.
