We are delighted that the 33rd GWCT Scottish Game Fair, with Headline Sponsor NFU Mutual, the leading rural insurer, returns to stunning Scone Parklands over the weekend of 1-3 July 2022
As always, the fair will feature an impressive line-up of traders, competitions and main ring events plus country sports activities and our very own central exhibit which this year focuses on demonstrating evidence of best practice.
Listen to the Land: Stories of our Natural Heritage, past, present and future
The GWCT Education Tent for 2022 will be hosting a
fantastic weekend of live events in celebration of the Visit Scotland Year of Stories. We have gathered an array of authors, scientists and knowledgeable speakers from far and wide to tell their tales and accounts, celebrating the countryside, reflecting on halcyon days from the past and current work being done to protect the land for future generations. We will explore topics from art to adventure, food, farming and folklore, conservation, climate change and culture.
It is a great pleasure for us to assemble such a range of speakers and we are excited to hear all they have to share with you. By bringing together these voices, we hope you will be inspired and entertained. There will be time for questions and discussions after most talks. We also have the Edinburgh Bookshop on hand selling books, including many by our guest readers – you could get that sought-after signature!
We have a packed programme for all ages across three venues. Talks will be hosted in the Childrens Nest, the Adults Hive and the GWCT Working Conservationists marquee, and all located around the GWCT Central exhibit by the main ring.
Central Exhibit and Advisory
The theme for the GWCT’s central ringside stand focuses on the three-legged stool of habitat, feeding and predator control necessary for the best of game and wildlife management conservation. With demonstrations covering these essential ingredients, be sure to make the central exhibit a stop during your visit and find out how these features will underpin the future of sustainable game management.
GWCT Advisory Services
Come and chat to our professional advisors and researchers on stand about our wide-ranging services in the uplands, wetlands, lowlands, on farms and in woodlands. This work assists managers to create and sustain a thriving countryside, rich in game and wildlife.
As part of these services, we now offer a tailored advice, training and reporting package to help estates demonstrate best practice. Using mobile app technology, we provide keepering and management teams with an easy-to-use method to collect and maintain bespoke records. This is aimed at helping estates fulfil basic due diligence and evidence requirements, which will be important for future licence applications and accreditation.
GWCT Members Marquee
This year we will be introducing a new feel to the Members Enclosure, with a variety of options including breakfast, hot lunches, grazing and light bites, coffee cake and bakery along with a fully stocked bar. The marquee and garden are exclusive to members and their friends and family on Friday, and open to all on Saturday and Sunday.
