Abstract

A study to evaluate hedgerow flowers as a resource for hoverflies and other beneficial insects is described. Preliminary observations of hoverflies foraging in a hedgerow showed that feeding appeared to be selective for particular species of flower, as it was not proportional to their abundance. Feeding choices appeared to change after 1000 GMT. Future work is outlined.
