Abstract

Densities of wintering corn buntings varied greatly between different farming systems in Portugal. Intensive agriculture was almost completely unused by wintering corn buntings. Highest densities were found on fallow land (including stubble) in extensive agricultural systems. Set-aside is likely to benefit wintering corn buntings in Portugal.
