About The Princeps

Since 1802, William Powell have been synonymous with building the finest shotguns. The William Powell Princeps Over and Under is no exception, adding an element of refined class to their already rich heritage of making best quality but very affordable shotguns.

All of the mechanical internal parts are stone-finished to provide an unsurpassed quality of fit. The slim forend is easily detached with a traditional ‘Anson’ push rod, finished perfectly with a steel tip. A coin finished extended trigger tang and steel grip cap come fitted as standard. The Princeps is built to your measurements at no extra cost and is supplied in a brown leather covered ABS travel case.

When developing the Princeps the brief was simple: produce a top of the range over and under that complimented and enhanced the choice from their already existing range of continental shotguns. The concept was to create the perfect over and under for shooting Game in the UK, whilst maintaining excellent quality and value for money.

The Princeps is built on an elegant round-bodied action with hand engraved scroll to the sideplates, forend tip and steel capped Pistol Grip.

The stock and forend are fitted with exceptional grade four quality Turkish walnut. Stock dimensions include an additional semi-palm swell which allows greater ergonomic control of the gun and can be made for both right and left handed shots. As with many of their top models, made to measure stock dimensions are included, ensuring a very comfortable fit and much more consistently accurate shooting.

As you would expect, the Princeps is High Performance Steel Proofed with 3” chambers and comes as standard with half and half fixed chokes. There is also the option to have Teague multi-chokes or their own multi-choking system fitted making the Princeps a fantastically versatile all-rounder.

Additional options include ‘Boss Style’ forend iron work, bespoke engraving, upgraded the woodwork still further, single or double triggers, solid gold or silver ovals.

The Princeps normally retails at £11,000 and is available in 12 or 20 bore with the option of 28”, 29”, 30” or 32” barrels. Also included is a gun fitting session with them in Oxfordshire, a bespoke made to measure stock, leather covered ABS travel case and a 5 year warranty against mechanical defects.
