IT Support Specialist

Type of appointment: Full-time 

Reporting to: Head of IT 

Location: GWCT Head Office, Burgate Manor, Fordingbridge 

Hours of work: 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. (with an hour for lunch) 

Salary: Circa £27k  

Job Purpose  

Working with IT Services Manager to provide first-line support for the IT Helpdesk, acting as the primary point of contact for GWCT staff across the UK, ensuring timely updates on progress and resolutions to everyday IT issues.  To support IT Services Manager and Head of IT to maintain and implement IT security systems, ensuring we keep up to date with the latest risks and developments.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities  

  1. Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently, ensuring IT Helpdesk is maintained efficiently, liaising with senior colleagues when appropriate  
  2. Manage laptops and smartphones using the Intune platform and connect, configure and maintain desktops, laptops and peripheral devices 
  3. Configure and maintain software on desktops and laptops 
  4. Provide network support, including maintaining user accounts and troubleshooting network and internet connectivity issues in a Windows Server Active Directory environment 
  5. Assist IT Services Manager and Head of IT with strategic planning initiatives, maintaining an up to date knowledge of the latest developments  
  6. Track IT inventory and maintain accurate records 
  7. Maintain antivirus installations through a central administrator’s console 
  8. Provide occasional support for network servers, assisted by external server support providers 
  9. Produce monthly reports and KPIs from helpdesk data
  10.  Work with third party support providers to ensure seamless service delivery

Person Specification 

  1. Knowledge of Windows 11    Essential
  2. Knowledge of supporting devices and software in a Microsoft Intune environment           Desirable
  3. Knowledge of supporting a Microsoft 365 environment               Essential
  4. Full, clean driving licence     Essential 
  5. Good interpersonal and communication skills       Essential 
  6. Knowledge of coding and backend website support                Desirable
  7. Experience of working in a first-line technical support role               Essential 
  8. IT qualification or degree       Desirable
  9. Ability to prioritise workload with good organisational skills               Essential
