GWCT Shoot Biodiversity Assessment

Pens for partridge

Who is this service for?
Owners or managers of shoots of all sizes, from small to large commercial.

Brief overview

The GWCT’s experienced team of advisors offer bespoke assessments aimed at providing an independent expert report on best practice and biodiversity gain on individual shoots. Our service involves:

  • A thorough on-site survey of your shoot
  • Careful examination of release sites (if any)
  • A review of the feeding system
  • Examination of game and wildlife habitat and how it is managed
  • A review of predation control strategy and practice
  • A confidential report on the current state of the shoot
  • An action plan for future improvement of both shoot and biodiversity

Why do I need to use this service?

Shoots face increasing pressure to demonstrate sustainability and measurable biodiversity gain arising from their activities. Particularly on larger shoots,  statements of “best practice” are increasingly important in discussion with conservation agencies and addressing criticism of game shooting.

How much does this service cost?

Our day rate is £800 and  we are happy to discuss costs based upon your requirements.
