Game management techniques to save wildlife disregarded by scratch card buyers: Our letter to the Times

Stoat

Sir, those wishing to kill stoats on Orkney to protect wildlife (Hunters and wildlife groups in stoat battle, May 29) must be congratulated for setting 20,000 traps with lottery funding. For the same conservation reason, the GWCT also supports gamekeepers willing to set stoat traps on the mainland. However, it’s bizarre that some are reluctant to recognise game management’s equally vital contribution simply because it is funded by those who go shooting, rather than those who buy scratch cards.

Appeal

The public aren’t being told about the vital good work being done in the British countryside by land managers. Their contribution is criminally overlooked and we want to help tell their story.
