Steve Moreby’s career with the GWCT has spanned more than 40 years. During this time he has studied the diet of grey partridges and red grouse, and looked at agricultural management and its effects on insects. 

Supplementary feeding has become a widespread management tool for declining farmland birds. In the countryside in late winter there is often not enough natural seed food, which causes a hungry gap between February and April when lots of birds die of starvation.

The GWCT’s West of Scotland Auction will be held at Oran Mor on Thursday 16th March but the auction website is now live so anyone can bid online!
