THE 2019 GRAND GROUSE DRAW IS NOW CLOSED
The winner of the 2019 Grand Grouse Draw has been notified and a statement will be made in due course. The prize won was a day’s driven grouse shooting on the Roxburghe Estates in the Lammermuirs to be taken during the 2020 grouse shooting season.
The Roxburghe moors of Byrecleugh and Rawburn are situated in the heart of the Lammermuir Hills and have been in the Duke of Roxburghe’s family since the 1500s. Covering over 10,000 acres, both moors are amongst the most productive and consistent in Scotland and offer a range of topography that produce fast, sporting birds to test even the best of shots.
In 2018, Roxburghe Estates were presented with the national Wildlife Estates accreditation from Scottish Land and Estates, recognising their outstanding work on wildlife, habitat and conservation management. The award is made following a rigorous accreditation process, which demonstrates that the estate is observing best practice in its management regime. Recent conservation projects undertaken include a five-year programme to enhance biodiversity and habitat on moorland at Byrecleugh and Rawburn, benefiting birds such as curlew, lapwing and snipe and in particular, black grouse.
