The library holds one of the finest private collections of books and manuscripts in the country, with works dating back to the 7th Century. Highlights include illuminated manuscript from the 12th and 15th centuries and first edition Caxton prints of The Canterbury Tales, Anne Boleyn's Psalter and the first folio of Shakespeare's comedies, histories and tragedies.
