With its 40 year history the GWCT’s Part Time Keepers’ course has moved with the times just like gamekeeping itself. Having been based at HQ in Fordingbridge since the beginning, we moved to Loddington a few years ago as its highly acclaimed small shoot epitomises the modern approach to integrating successful low ground gamekeeping with modern farming.
This three day course covers just about every aspect of running a part-time keepered shoot including:
- Rearing and releasing pheasants and partridges
- Growing game crops
- Predation control
- Woodland management
- Feeding regimes
With additional sessions on wetlands for wildfowl, conservation of farmland wildlife, and game shoot economics, the course covers a surprising breadth of information.
Delegates also find that spending three days with a group of like-minded enthusiasts brings extra rewards through the exchange of ideas and the forging of new friendships.
Accommodation and catering can be booked direct at nearby establishments (please ask for details). Fee covers course, refreshments and lunch.
