Big Farmland Bird Count ID Workshop (Fife)

Location: Balgonie Estate, Fife
Date / Time: 2 February 2026

To help Big Farmland Bird Count participants identify the birds they see, the GWCT will be running Bird ID Workshops in Fife and Aberdeenshire in the weeks leading up to the count. These workshops will include advice and tips on how to identify birds by sight and sound and how to collect and submit your records. Events will also include a short farm walk where you can put your new skills into practice. The workshops will be free to attend and tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.  Read more

River Deveron Farmer Cluster Collaboration

Location: Baden Powell Centre, Turriff, Aberdeenshire, AB53 4FA

We are hosting a workshop to discuss collaboration in the River Deveron catchment to look at ways we can build collaborative, landscape-scale partnerships between farmers and crofters, the Scottish Government and its agencies, and environmental organisations. We will hear from practitioners and organisations involved in farmer cluster collaborations and related environmental initiatives, but most of all, we want to listen to your thoughts on how we can meet the challenges and the potential benefits that exist for Scottish farmers. There will be ample opportunity throughout the workshop to hear your views and plan for next steps. A snack lunch will also be provided.  Read more

This is a unique opportunity to learn about upland land management, including legal predator control and muirburn, on site from practitioners and landowners and to witness the breath-taking biodiversity found on managed moorland. The walks will be followed by a barbecue and drinks with all the food being provided and cooked by Castle Game Scotland.   Read more
