RSPB's 'bizzarre' suggestions on hen harrier success: Our letter published by The Times

Miranda -nest -cam -Langholm

The impossibility of recovering hen harriers in England through nest protection alone was recognised by the RSPB six years ago. As a result, they demanded a new Government-led plan to unlock the proven conflict between hen harriers and grouse moors. All six parts of that plan were available, for the first time, this year and the results have been stunning. It is bizarre that the RSPB should now suggest (Feathers fly over who to thank for saving hen harrier, Aug 6) that these successes have been achieved through nest protection alone.
