GWCT Charity Clay Shoot hitting the high notes

The annual GWCT Charity Clay Shoot at Cefn Tilla Court, Llandenny was held on the 21 September 2022 at the former home of Lord Raglan. A total of 20 teams of 4 participated in the event in the beautiful grounds of Cefn Tilla on the outskirts of Usk in the magnificent Monmouthshire countryside. 6 sporting stands and a four-man flush gave guns an early season warm up, followed by an auction and buffet supper.This popular event was sponsored by Sinclair Jaguar Land Rover, Premier Forest Group, Cardiff law firm Le Gros and Holts Auctioneers.

GWCT South East Wales Committee Chairman, Roger Thomas said “attendance was excellent despite being only two days after HM The Queen’s funeral.  We raised about £11,500 for GWCT (Wales) at a time when support for conservation and country sports has never been so important”.

Philip Yapp, Member of GWCT and the South East Wales GWCT Committee, added “‘This stunning venue and impressive clay ground provided a relaxed afternoon for guests to practice before the game season. There were numerous auction lots including days game shooting, shooting accessories and works of art which, as in previous years, attracted strong interest. It is also a great opportunity to catch up with old friends interested in country sports”.

The South East Wales GWCT Committee is one of six committees in Wales that are made up of volunteers across the country who all help help raise the profile of the charity and it’s work.
