Abstract

Six groups of partridge chicks, Perdix perdix, were reared on ground artificially infected with Candida albicans.  When clinical condition and cultural examination confirmed the establishment of candidasis, chicks were given food sprayed with formic acid once daily at the rate of 20 c.c. per 100 g. for 15 days.  One group was treated with 6 per cent., two with 10 per cent., and one with 15 per cent.  Two untreated pens were kept as controls.  When examined post mortem, the severity of lesions in treated chicks was markedly reduced, particularly those given the 15 per cent. concentration.  No side effects were observed.
