Starvation in young Tawny Owls.

Abstract

Though widely assumed that starvation is a major factor in the regulation of bird populations, there has been little corroborative evidence. This paper shows that starvation is not uncommon in Tawny Owls during their early months of independence, while they are seeking to establish territories for themselves.
