The Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust (GWT) is honouring Lionel’s memory by launching an award along the lines of our annual GWT Young Gamekeeper, but for Young Ghillies. 

Demijohn has had a long and happy relationship with the GWCT Scottish Game Fair, which is held annually at Scone Palace near Perth, and is all set to return on 30th June for this year’s cracking 3 day event.

“All wildlife benefits from….” my heart sinks every time I hear those words, because they are invariably wrong. They are usually followed with the word gamekeeping, or shooting, and whichever is chosen the resulting sweeping statement reveals a degree of fundamental ignorance about the impact of game management that our opponents see straight through.

On 5 and 6 July 2023, ADA, the association for flood and water management authorities throughout the UK, are hosting a unique working demonstration and exhibition highlighting innovations in sustainable water management and flood resilience.

The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust is very proud of its association with the Purdey Awards. The link between conservation and shooting that the awards highlight is precisely what GWCT is all about – conservation through wise use.

JM Osborne Rural and Sporting have been involved in shoots and shooting in one form or another since 1972 and have seen a massive change in that near 50 year period. 

In April 2023, the Lowland Gamebird research group finished a full year of walking 3km transect routes across a number of sites every three weeks, looking for fox scats and recording wildlife sightings.

Last week, the GWCT joined forces with City Flickers to deliver a presentation on the topic of "Where have all the salmon gone?" to members.
