Shoot Benchmarking Survey: guest blog by Savills

Savillsfwby David Steel, Director, Savills

Data collection for the 2015/2016 shooting season is now underway for our Shoot Benchmarking Survey with forms sent out to all previous participants. This is the survey’s sixth year, which is again in partnership with the GWCT, an association of which we are very proud..

The primary purpose of the Survey is to act as a financial management tool for shoots by identifying areas of strength and weakness in their performance against the ‘benchmark’, so corrective action can be taken if needed.

Are your variable or fixed costs too high or charge rates per bird too low? Are your permanent and casual staff rates of pay competitive to attract the best people? How do your percentage returns for the season compare against other shoots?

It’s completely free to take part, just complete the data entry form. It is totally confidential and no shoot is identifiable in the published flyers we use.

Each shoot receives a detailed report from our research team, based on a traffic light system of performance scores. In addition, only those who take part get to see the full results and analysis,

For the 14/15 season, 110 shoots took part, in what is regarded as an industry leading survey and the only one of its kind. It would be fantastic to get over 200 shoots taking part this time; the more that do, the more meaningful and useful the results are.

Click here to complete the survey or to obtain a copy of the 2014/2015 results and/or to receive a copy of the 2015/2016 data entry form, please email dsteel@savills.com – we look forward to learning from you!
