GWCT member Annette West was delighted to receive a 20-year-old jeroboam of Taylor’s Port at her home in North Devon after picking the winning raffle ticket on the GWCT stand at this year’s Game Fair at Ragley. Annette is planning to take the port, generously donated by Taylor’s, to Crufts in March where she is showing her working wirehaired vizslas and Manchester terriers. She said: “We thought it would be nice to share it with fellow competitors and if we win it would be a lovely way to celebrate.”
Annette and her partner Alec joined the Trust after hearing a talk on woodcock migration by Director of Research, Dr Andrew Hoodless, in 2010 and visit the GWCT stand every time they attend the Game Fair.
Annette added: “The GWCT has incredible people on its staff. We never miss visiting the stand if we are at Game Fair and it’s always got something interesting to see with young enthusiastic people keen to explain the science in a balanced way. We love getting Gamewise, too, we read it from cover to cover and it’s always intriguing We don’t have 1,000s of acres, but we care about the countryside and its wildlife and that’s why we are GWCT members.”
Lisa O’Donnell of Taylor’s Port said: “It’s great to see a loyal GWCT member like Annette win the port. Taylors shares with GWCT a rich heritage and connection to the British countryside. We are proud sponsors of the Trust whose research and advice are so important in helping look after our precious nature and landscapes.”
