The Shoots

Ruckley Grange/Lizard Hill Shoot
Ruckley Estate is family owned with shooting over some 3,000 acres. The shoot offers high quality pheasants and some partridges over undulating valleys and lakes in an attractive mature woodland setting. The Ruckley drives on the GWCT day will include the dramatic Ladies Walk drive over the lake. Meeting at the house to draw pegs with coffee – and something stronger – after which the guns will amble down to the lakeside for some testing pheasants.

Grindle and Patmarsh
Two privately run syndicates that shoot over some 2,000 acres each with brooks that meander across the relatively flat terrain. The two shoots lie almost alongside each other at the point where the brooks run down into some steep narrow valleys, from which they offer many opportunities to shoot at challenging high partridges.

Apley
Apley Park Shoot has been listed in the Shooting Gazette as one of Britain's top ten pheasant shoots. It is a traditional shoot on an ancient family estate. It is run primarily as a family shoot and has been renowned for its high quality of sport and entertainment for over a century.

The shoot is organised over two separate beats, one in Apley Park & Apley Terrace in the Severn Valley, which is perfect terrain for game shooting as well as being one of the most beautiful landscapes in England. The other is centred on the River Worfe, which has carved out stunning sandstone escarpments making for truly memorable pheasant and partridge shooting.

Lunch will be hosted by Lord Hamilton in the Apley Park dining room, a grand but comfortable setting decorated with Georgian furniture and Old Masters.
