By kind permission of the River Barle Fishing Club (RBFC), the Somerset Committee of the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust invite you to a river walk along a beautiful stretch of the River Barle running through the heart of Exmoor.
You will be guided on foot, along nearly two miles of the banks of the River Barle, upstream from the world famous Tarr Steps. Along the river walk, you will hear from the RBFC members, fishing enthusiasts and Dylan Roberts, Head of Fisheries at the GWCT, who will endeavour to show you what to look for when fishing a west country river for salmon and migratory trout. You will also learn about the continual hard work undertaken by dedicated fisherman and organisations such as the River Exe and Tributaries Association (RETA) to maintain the desired habitats and ecosystem required by the target species being the Atlantic salmon and brown trout.
The evening will finish at Tarr Farm Restaurant - lasagne, garlic bread, salad and pudding.
