Scottish Code for Conservation Translocations

Scottish Natural Heritage’s Scottish Code for Conservation Translocations was launched by Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Environment and Climate Change, at Scottish Game Fair 2014. As a member of the National Species Reintroduction Forum, the GWCT contributed to the code and its accompanying guidelines.

Conservation translocation is the process of transporting organisms for the purpose of conservation in situations where individual species management and wider habitat management may not be practical. These guidelines aim to set out how such work should be undertaken in Scotland.
