Tayside Four Estate Shoot Day
For the second year, one of the highlights of the GWCT Tayside committee auction has been a 25-bird minimum drive on four different Angus estates: Lednathie, Pearsie, Kinnordy and Glenogil. The auction, held in 2015 in the prestigious setting of Glamis Castle, raised a total of over £27,000, with this particular lot achieving £8,200 alone.
The lot was donated jointly by Barclay Dougall (owner, Lednathie), Simon Laird (sporting tenant, Pearsie), Kinnordy Shoot Syndicate (sporting tenant, Kinnordy) and Glenogil Estate.
Following bacon rolls for breakfast at Pearsie Lodge there were three drives, followed by lunch, with the final drive at Glenogil, followed by tea and scones in the Glenogil gun room.
Everyone involved donated their time and the total bag comprised 82 pheasants and 27 partridges. The day also raised £1,000 from the pooling of tips and fines for shooting low birds, poor shot selection, sleeping on your peg or forgetting your slippers! This additional sum will be split and donated equally to Angus Downs Syndrome and the Angus Glens Moorland Group.
