In order to show people how to save this beautiful and iconic bird of the British countryside, the Lincolnshire Grey Partridge Group will be holding an evening dedicated to informing farmers and land managers of how they can help to reverse this alarming decline in numbers.

A day of sporting challenges in Kendal, Cumbria has raised just over £7,000 for wildlife research. The Levens Team Challenge was arranged by the Lancashire and Cumbria branches of the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT), and the money raised will go towards funding their groundbreaking conservation research.

There is no question that the illegal killing of wildlife is unacceptable. The GWCT welcomes the insight of Scottish Natural Heritage’s report on the fates of satellite-tracked golden eagles and looks forward to scrutinising it in greater depth. We will be working with partners across the conservation sector and in government to develop policy and management that will address the issues raised in this and other reports on the conservation status of important species.

A case of H5N8 bird flu in a flock of chickens and geese near Diss in south Norfolk was confirmed by the UK’s Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer on Saturday night (June 3).
