TWO fisheries scientists from the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, Stephen Gregory and Rasmus Lauridsen, have been invited to sit on the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea’s (ICES) working groups for salmon and trout.

THE fisheries team at GWCT is set to receive a boost from funds raised through a newly-designed badge.

A GRANT has been awarded - ahead of World Curlew Day on Saturday April 21st - by the Heritage Lottery Fund to aid the recovery of an iconic bird, the curlew. 

AHEAD of World Curlew Day, GWCT staff have been paying visits to farms in fear of losing their nesting curlews due to the bird’s continuing demise.

NEW strategies in reducing the use of antibiotics in gamebird rearing are showing positive results, a veterinary consultant highlighted at Game 2018.

WADERS for Real, a project seeking to aid declining wader birds in the Avon Valley, has received a one-year extension. 

This important joint communication is intended for all UK gamebird rearers, any shoots
that release game, game feed suppliers, vets who look after gamebirds and everyone else
with an interest in gamebird husbandry and game shooting.

A RECORD-BREAKING number of farmers took part in the fifth successive Big Farmland Bird Count (BFBC).

All things venison were enjoyed by a full house of 50 guests at Apley Farm Shop on the evening of Thursday 15 March, hosted by Lord and Lady Hamilton of Apley Estate in Shropshire. The proceeds from the evening will go towards funding the vital conservation research of the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT).

TWO budding scientists have been awarded funding for their projects from the Dick Potts Legacy Fund – a year after the pioneering ecologist sadly passed away.
