THE GWCT is on the road again for its second series of in-demand roadshows.
Over the next two months, GWCT staff will be travelling to ten locations to hold talks on issues concerning the British countryside, from bag sizes and badgers to lead ammunition and licensing.
Guests will have the chance to listen to GWCT’s latest research findings, thoughts for the year ahead and the opportunity to raise important questions and have them answered by our team of experts.
The second run of roadshows have been organised following positive feedback from the first series of talks, which attracted a lot of interest from those passionate about the countryside.
GWCT’s director of communications Andrew Gilruth, who will be hosting the events in Somerset, Midurst, Bury St Edmunds, Tetsworth, Tewkesbury, Oakham, Knutsford, Salisbury, Thirsk and Stevenage, said: “This will give members and those yet to join the chance to learn more about what’s really going on in the British countryside.”
“We wouldn’t be able to achieve the good work we do for the environment – either as an organisation or the nation as a whole – without the support of ordinary, hard-working people.
“We want as many people as possible to learn about the work we’re doing and the issues we all face in the countryside. This is your chance to share your thoughts in person and we look forward to welcoming you on the night.”
Andrew will be joined by members of the GWCT’s advisory team, who work closely with farmers, gamekeepers and land managers to improve their biodiversity and ensure that they are delivering the best for the environment.

The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust – providing research-led conservation for a thriving countryside. The GWCT is an independent wildlife conservation charity which has carried out scientific research into Britain’s game and wildlife since the 1930s. We advise farmers and landowners on improving wildlife habitats. We employ 22 post-doctoral scientists and 50 other research staff with expertise in areas such as birds, insects, mammals, farming, fish and statistics. We undertake our own research as well as projects funded by contract and grant-aid from Government and private bodies.
