Lapwings use the shape of their nests and surroundings to hide from predators, new research carried out in collaboration with the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust shows.

The Royal Agricultural Society of England has awarded its 2023 National Agricultural Award to Dr Alastair Leake, the Director of Policy at the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust.

New research by the GWCT has shown that capercaillie numbers in Scotland have nearly halved in ten years, with as few as 304 birds remaining in 2020, compared to 580 in 2010. The figures show capercaillie heading towards extinction unless further measures are put in place to save this iconic bird.
