The winners of the 2020 Julian Gardner Awards for nature and wildlife photography have been selected. Jenny Hibbert, who photographed two hares in the Cairngorms, was the winner of the adult category. 16-year-old Katy Read scooped the prize in the junior section with a close-up of a robin with its feathers fluffed up against the cold.

In July the GWCT launched its 500 Club, a proactive move to boost membership and make up for some of the loss of voluntary donations and income estimated to be in the region of £1.4 million for 2020. The aim is to encourage more people to join as members and to celebrate those who commit to supporting the charity at this difficult time for everyone. The cancellation of numerous country shows, fundraising dinners and auctions due to COVID-19 has severely limited opportunities for fundraising.
