Once again, Hampden & Co very generously hosted the Edinburgh & South East Scotland Committee’s Hip Flask Challenge in November, setting the guests up with some nibbles and fizz before they got stuck into the competition.
There were a variety of concoctions, some interesting and some… more interesting! I felt that the entry named “Dirty Brown” was the latter!
A superb turnout of nearly 60 guests helped raise a fantastic total of over £1,600 via ticket sales and a raffle, while also enjoying some delicious home-distilled drinks.
As for the results, it seems that Mark French’s sloe gin winner from last year really is the best, as it won for a second year running! Although he was pushed all the way by his son Luke, whose rhubarb and orange vodka came a close second.
Thanks again to Hampden & Co for hosting the event, to the donors of the concoctions, to all those who attended and to the committee for all their efforts.
Winner with giant hip flask.
