Welcome to the GWCT Scottish Auction.
I am delighted to report that this year’s event, which took place on 4th May at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh, was another great success.
Some enthusiastic pre-auction bidding got things going very nicely before 437 people arrived for the event itself. They enjoyed a sunny - if chilly - champagne reception when they were able to admire the full range of Landrovers and several different Jaguars displayed by our sponsors Pentland Landrover, and then to hear what the GWCT is getting up to in Scotland from the Trust’s Chief Executive Teresa Dent.
Dinner (kindly sponsored by Saffery Champness) in the Prestonfield Stables was once again exceptional; The most delicious dish of loin of roe deer (the venison generously donated to us by Highland Game) was the star of the show.
All this was just an accompaniment to the main event, the auction. Throughout dinner there was fast and furious bidding in the silent auction on the Givergy tablet system, generously sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, and then Charles Graham-Campbell of Bonhams presided over an exciting and competitive live auction.
A last chance to bid in the silent auction bidding followed before a halt was called and the raffle drawn. The 2 auctions and raffle between them raised a healthy total of over £132,000, but when all is said and done we will have raised well over £135,000 for GWCT Scotland.
I am immensely grateful to the committee who worked hard to pull a terrific auction catalogue together, to our sponsors, to our donors, and to all who came to the event and bid so enthusiastically to raise such a significant amount towards the GWCT’s excellent work.
