Time is running out to take part in the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust’s (GWCT) Grand Grouse Draw.

Thousands of tickets have already been sold for the draw which closes on Saturday, December 9.

The lucky winner will win a day’s driven grouse shooting and he or she will be able to invite seven friends with them for a memorable experience at Mar Estate, located deep in the stunning Cairngorm Mountains.

The Mar Estate is some 60 miles west of Aberdeen, close to Balmoral and marching with Invercauld and Mar Lodge estates. Mar is carefully managed for both red grouse and red deer, enjoying a historical reputation for being one of the great deer forests of Scotland.

Grouse have been present in good numbers since the earliest game books in the 1840s. The estate was butted for driven grouse in 1925 and, today, guns continue to enjoy awesome sport in the estate’s high corries where some butts are close to 3,000 feet.

Luxury accomodation, for 16, in the Mill of Dess Lodge, has been kindly provided by Lower Dess Estate - located in a totally unspoilt rural setting within easy driving distance of Aberdeen airport.

Eight double rooms with en-suite bathrooms will be made available and even dogs are provided for within a separate kennel block. Dinner and breakfast are included, with delicious food using the finest locally-sourced Aberdeenshire produce and cooked by the resident chef.

The date of the shoot day will be during the 2018 open grouse season. Confirmation of the day will be dependent on the 2018 grouse counts, with the day agreed by prior arrangement with Mar Estate.

Tickets are £40 for a book of 20 and can be bought here.

The draw will take place on Sunday, 10th December 2017.

Proceeds of the draw will help support the ongoing conservation work the Trust carries out in helping make the countryside rich in game and wildlife.
