Storytelling Festival

A very warm welcome to the Scottish Game Fair 2022

Year of stories celebration - 1st to 3rd July 2022

Listen to the Land: Stories of our natural heritage, past, present, and future

We are delighted to bring you a fantastic weekend of live events during the 33rd GWCT Scottish Game Fair. Marking VisitScotland’s Year of Stories, we have gathered specially invited authors to tell their tales and accounts from across Scotland celebrating the countryside, reflecting on halcyon days from the past and current work to protect the land for future generations. We will explore topics from art to adventure, food, farming and folklore, conservation, climate change and culture.

It is a great pleasure for us to assemble such a range of speakers and we are excited to hear all they have to share. By bringing together these voices we hope you will be inspired and entertained. There will be time for questions and discussions after most talks. We also have the Edinburgh Bookshop on hand selling books, including many by our guest readers, which might mean you get that sought after signature!

We have a packed programme for all ages across three venues. Talks will be hosted by Linda Mellor, Guy Grieve and Louise Gray in the Childrens Nest, the Adults Hive and the GWCT Working Conservationists marquee, and all located around the GWCT Central exhibit by the main ring. You will find all the highlights within this brochure.

Online booking prior to the event is recommended

Between stories and book readings do stop in at our central GWCT exhibit where this year, we are focusing on the three-legged stool of habitat, feeding and predator control necessary for the best of game and wildlife conservation. Come and find out how these features will underpin the future of sustainable game management. Chat to our researchers and professional advisors about our wide-ranging work in the uplands, wetlands, lowlands, and woodlands in our Working Conservationists advisory marquee.
